I have come across this problem or at least something very similar a couple of times. In each case it turned out to be a problem with the source. For some reason the source avi could be demuxed OK but on trying to remux it IIRC I got an error that the audio wasn't a compatable format or similar. Try saving the audio as a wave. Then save the avi with no audio. Try to recompress it with ARC and then remux manually with the wave file. You can then use Vdubmod to convert the wave audio to mp3. You will probably have to resynch the audio if you are successfull.
Good Luck with it. regards..

Sometimes ,I Get This Error To. My Suggsetion Is To Save The Sound As Wav ,Then Transform The Wav File To mp3 With Besweet ,Or As jrfer Said ,To Recompress The Wav File With VirtualDubMod.(Use The "Picture" Avi File In The Temp Working Folder ,It's Already Compressed With The Subtitles) The Problem Is With The Rip And Not With ARC.
Note: When I Used Besweet To Tranform To MP3 ,I Had To DELAY The Sound By 1000 Milsecond
Hi guys ! Indeed. This error occurs always when the source sound is incorrect. We all have this problem very often and there is nothing we can do with it. The authors of DVD-Rips use the strange unknown tools and very often they produce an incorrect audio track. Most often it refers to AC3 but as we can see it also happens to mp3 tracks. When we try to load such a stream to VirtualDub(Mod) we will also see a similar error telling us that the loaded sound it incorrect. The only way is to re-encode the sound stream. You can always find it in AVI ReComp temporary directory (audio.mp3(ac3)). As you mentioned above the streams often contains a strange delay. This is another problem. Seems the authors of DVD-Rips adjust the sound separately in a strange way. Most often it affects the movies recorded in the cinema. The sound is recorded separately. So the only way to prevent against such cases it to download only well tested, verified and trusted sources. I always do that and personally I have the muxing issue very seldom. Our friend Krzychu had many such bad-created sources so I'm sure he will join this discussion and share his own experience. Greets, Prozac
Hi Friends ! Yes, it's true . Recently I had many releases with corrputed sound track. First I thought that a problem was when movie included AC3 sound. This is not true. Many releases with MP3 sound had the same problem. Laki2222 please You try to reencode sound track with ex. BeSweet (BeSweetGui or BeLight). Have You any error ? After reencode muxing process and synchronization is OK ? I don't know what a "one-clik super-soft" is producing this shit. Sorry, but I think, that many people don't have any knowledge, any experience. They have PC computer with internet network and they use strange software to make compression.
All my own releases are good and works with AviRecomp.
@Danelk 1000 ms ? I had releases when I added 6 or 10 seconds !

Well.....It's Depends ,On Your Sound Quality
At The Begining ,I Always Choosed The option To Delete Temp Files.... Usually ,There Are No Needs For Them Because In The Most Of The Times ARC ,Done It Just Fine, But Since There Are SomeTimes Problems I Delete Then Manually(Have a HDD 300GB ,No Problem For me...);)
As I Said Before ,Best Way To Fix This Problem ,Is: 1.Open The Original File With VirtualdubMod 2.In Audio -->Streamlist ,Save The Sound As Wav 3.Use Besweet ,With BesweetGui(Can Found On VideoHelp.com) 4.Re-Encode The Audio To MP3/AC3 5.Open The "Picture" File In The Temp Directory That avirecomp Made With VirtualDubMod(The File Is Without Sound!!) 6.Go to Audio--> Streamlist ,And Add the AudioFile just Maded With Besweet 7.In The Video Section ,Choose Direct Stream Copy ,And Save It As Avi.
8.Now ,Open The New File With Your Player , And See If The Sound Is Sync....If Not Manually ,Via Audio --> streamlist , RightClick On The Sound ,And Choose The Right Delay (Use "+" Or "-" , Correspondly)
Yeah, thank you Daniel for this little guide. I'm sure it will be useful for all users since I think we will have to grapple with this problem for some time Maybe in the future I will find a solution. I'm still working on it by corresponding with VDubMod authors. Note, You don't have to save the sound as WAV. You can also save the sound in its original format (for example mp3 or ac3) and then re-encode the sound using BeSweet (mp3->mp3) or (ac3->ac3). This way you should also get a good result.
