Welcome to the forum ! Did you delete all temporary files stored by AVI ReComp ? If no, please open this temporary directory and search for a file named picture.avi Is such a file present there ? Also attach the file named 1stpass.jobs if it is present in this directory. I have to see the contents of this file. Greets, Prozac
Thanks ! Seems everything looks fine there. Looks like VirtualDubMod has a problem with opening your file. So lets do one test. Try to open your original file using VirtualDubMod installed together with ARC. You will find it in ARC install directory. Then, if your file opens without any problems, go to Video and check Direct Stream Copy. Then go to File menu and choose Save as... Then just try to save your file using a different name. Lets see if it all can be done correctly.
I forgot to write you about audio and preview. I decided to disable audio at all. Why ? Because sometimes the users have no required audio codecs installed in their OS and they get an error when starting a preview. But I had many requests and I think I will bring it back The next version 1.1.1 is ready and now all beta-testers are doing their job. So you can expect a sound in the next version Greets, Prozac
OK. Then try to do the same thing using a video.avi file stored in ARC temporary directory. Just load this file to VirtualDubMod and try to follow the instructions above. Probably I will have to think about it for a while. Unfortunately it is almost 3 am here and I have to go to sleep But I will try to solve this issue tomorrow. Once again, thanks for using the software and reporting the problem on this forum ! Greets, Prozac
Sorry, thanks very much! Hehehe I almost forgot we're on different time zones. By the way, I already did it with the video.avi. I forgot to mention earlier that the video.avi being produced by the ARC temporary directory does not have any sounds at all. so the video being produced from virtualdubmode had no sounds at all.
Thanks very much, I really appreciate your help We'll think on this tomorrow

That's true. This video.avi file is a picture only. This file was created by demuxing (separating) the streams (audio and video) of your source file. After the streams are separated ARC takes the video.avi file and re-encodes it. After re-encoding ARC merges the recompressed picture.avi with a sound stream that was initially saved in a temp directory. This is how it works These VCF files are the special files containing all commands for VirtualDubMod. These commands describe what VDM has to do with a given file. As we can see audio and video demuxing went fine. The problem appeared when 1pass.vcf was loaded into VDM. I wish I could have you movie on my HDD Then I could do a proper tests without bothering you. If you have your personal FTP server I can guide you how to cut out a small fragment of your movie. Then you will just upload a file of 2-3 MB to your server and I will be able to get this file and make a proper tests. Is it possible ? If no, then we will have to continue our testing in a previous way. Greets, Prozac
